Every year, the FFRL attempts to conduct a social get together with it's drivers.  A chance for drivers to meet, discuss the future path of the FFRL, discuss tips and tricks, eat plenty of food, and share in some activities.  Of course, since the drivers of the FFRL are expanded nationwide and into Canada, sometimes it's difficult to find an area where the drivers can get together.  So far, we have been successful five times in accomplishing this.

Location of each "pitstop" generally takes place in a centralized location where a driver in that area, hosts the event and the staff of the FFRL puts it all together.  The "Pitstops" done in each year are noted as the "years" just above this text.  Browsing through them will give you an idea of the FFRL and how this is just more than racing, it's the community.  In 2010, we have scheduled our next Pitstop back in Cleveland, Oh on August 7th and 8th.

In 2010, the FFRL had its 7th Annual Pitstop at the home of Doc and Pegleg and home of "NRT Racing" in Cleveland, Ohio.  The Pitstop, as we like to call it, is our way for the FFRL drivers to come together, meet, eat, cover notes and suggestions for the up and coming year, and have plenty of fun.

It's been planned for just under a year and we were quite pleased with the turnout that made this Pitstop such a huge success.  With over 20 attending, it is an absolute joy to actually meet those you have been racing with for years.

The Pitstop began Friday night as those who have arrived early by car or plane, met at a diner in North Olmstead named "Frankies Italian Cuisine".  We filled up the entire banquet room for the most part, make jokes from table to table, ate the delicious food, and talked it up for a couple hours.  At the beginning, I was quite surprised to see that Ruger made it in from Lousiana.  But in a way, a little upset as well.  You see, Ruger made some post in our forums joking about coming to the 7th annual Pitstop.  We knew all year he wasn't.  So I naturally double-dogged-dared him.  And then he made this bet that if he came, I would have to buy him, and his date (who he thought would be my Mom) dinner.  So I agreed.  And there he was and my wallet felt empty.  LOL.  But glad he came.  After dinner some of us gathered our things together to head to our hotels while a few of us went to the micro-brewery down the street called "Fat Heads".

At "Fat Heads" we were there for a couple hours.  Here we learned of a few things.  The blueberry beer (whatever it's called) smelled like Hair Dye, the girls next to us were not single, and bat-wings.  I won't go further into detail.  The atmosphere was pretty good.

At 10:00 am on Saturday morning, most of us were at Doc's house to get ready for the Pitstop.  Savina got to work pretty early along with Angie, Rita, and Mitsy to get the coffee going, donuts and pastires ready as well as yogurt and some other snacks for the morning.  Once we all got acquainted again, we sat in our seats and discussed the future of the FFRL.  All the notes that we covered can be found at the bottom of this page.  Yes, it's a lot but shorter than other years.  Just ask around =)  Our meeting is pretty important because we really take in what the members of the FFRL have to say.  It's always been that way.  And probably why we've been around for almost 10 years now.

During the meeting we had several breaks which included a light lunch and then dinner at the end.  Meatball subs and Taco's were the main entrees and everyone was stuffed.  The ladies did a great job getting all the food together!!!  Once the meeting was over, it was time to head to the evening event at Lorain County Speedway.  A 1/3 mile asphault track.

At the Speedway, the owner of Lorain County Speedway was impressed to hear that we were coming.  We had communicaitons with him weeks in advance.  So impressed by the way, that he gave us the VIP Center to use which was enclosed with air coniditioning and most importantly, our own bathroom.  We treaded in and out of the building watching the race with all of us, well.. about half of us, in our Pitstop t-shirts.  People asked what we were and we all got to talking.  Some of the races were pretty good, even the last one which was mostly hillarious.  As day turned into night, it was time to call it a day.  Some went back to the hotels while others went to some turkish smoking room.  No clue what it's called.  But from what I heard, it was an "experience" to say the least.  LOL

The next morning the group had split up.  While some went to have breakfast as a group before they left, 9 of us headed to the golf course.  And there the fun continued.  At first, we couldn't understand why Chris (aka Baby Genius) could be late and lost with 2 gps systems in his car, but he managed it somehow.  The joke of the day was pretty much all on Duck.  Friday, before we all met for dinner, a few of us went to play golf.  And so.. while I was testing my accuracy, I managed to hit a golf cart, a mobile home, and a house all in one day.  Pretty accurate if I say so myself.  Thank you very much =)  But the joke was on me all day.  However, they seem to forget Bone-drivers long drive that went a total of 6 inches.  Sean's ability to end up in other fairways but the one we're using, etc...   But it was all fun.  After the 18, we said our goodbyes and packed things up to head back and prepare for the 8th annual Pitstop.
