On May 19th, 2012, the eighth running of the FFRL All-Star Challenge takes place.  This race is a "non points" race with one winner who is honored at the 2012 Awards Ceremony that takes place at the end of the season.  In 2012, #81 Jay Mies will be defending his 2011 title.

The FFRL All-Star Challenge is a race off competition among drivers who have either won a previous "FFRL All-Star Challenge", an existing Magnum or Sportsman Cup Series Champion (previous two in the past ten years), or have recorded a win in the Magnum Cup Series in the 2011/2012 Seasons, or the top 2 drivers in the present year's "FFRL All-Star Showdown".

FFRL ALL-STAR CHALLENGE
The distance for the "FFRL All-Star Challenge" consists of 90 laps, 135 miles, run in five segments with four 20 lap segments and a signature 10 lap shootout.  Each segment will have a winner who then clinches a top-four spot coming to pit road for a mandatory stop just prior to the 10-lap finale.  If a driver wins a segment twice, the second-place driver for that segment gets entry into the top four guaranteeing at least four cars to start the front on the final 10.

First Segment: 20 laps.  Field is given a caution at end of lap 20.  Winner of first segment will be positioned first to come down pit road at the end of segment 4.  The caution is optional.  Drivers can pit during this break or stay out.  Field is set for next 20 by the order in which they line up.

Second Segment: 20 laps.  Field is given a caution at end of lap 20.  Winner of first segment will be positioned second to come down pit road at the end of segment 4.  The caution is optional.  Drivers can pit during this break or stay out.  Field is set for next 20 by the order in which they line up.

Third Segment: 20 laps.  Field is given a caution at end of lap 20.  Winner of first segment will be positioned third to come down pit road at the end of segment 4.  The caution is optional.  Drivers can pit during this break or stay out.  Field is set for next 20 by the order in which they line up.

Fourth Segment: 20 laps.  Field is given a caution at end of lap 20.  Winner of first segment will be positioned fourth to come down pit road at the end of segment 4.  The caution is optional.  Drivers can pit during this break or stay out.  Field is set for next 20 by the order in which they line up.

Mandatory Pit Stop will take place at completion of the fourth segment.  The top four drivers in each segment will be directed to enter pit road when OPEN on the first lap.  All other drivers must enter pit road the 2nd or 3rd time by.  The top four entering pit road first may be "black flagged" due to being ordered to break the line to enter based on segment win.  This flag will be removed.  Under caution, all drivers MUST enter pit road.  Drivers may service their car, top off just for fuel, 2 or 4 tires, or even just drive through.  In other words, their service in pit lane is optional.

Fifth Segment: 10 lap shootout.  Winner takes all.

The "Lucky Dog" is applied for the All-Star Showdown and the Challenge.  Gentlemen's rule remains in effect as well as all other FFRL Rules and Policies.
