Gary Griffith takes the Diamond Truck Series
Championship! To finish off the 2008 season, the one
named "Griff" finished the year by claiming the IROC Series title.
Bringing in a new name (not SonicGriff, just Griff) and a new number to
the track, Griff continues his success in the FFRL with a title win in the
2009 Diamond Truck Series.
The Diamond Truck series ran for a total of ten races in the first half
of the year on alternating Thursday nights. Following the series,
the IROC series will run for the remainder of the year. In Griff's
ten starts, he averages a top five finish with also acquiring two wins at
Talladega and Texas. After the series finale at Michigan where
runner-up for the Championship took the win (Chris Bright), Gary Griffith
came to the post race interview wearing nothing but his speedo that read
"I love Ruger". We refused to comment about the attire and
congratulated him on his Championship.
Holding his trophy high along with teammates of Team Alliance, we quote
Griff, "Thanks and thank you guys for a fun Diamond series season. Thank
you to Billy and Savina for the great admin work and putting up with us
all. And, Thanks to Duck for doing all the stats, standings, etc.
Got to thank my teammates for all their help and support in this series
too. Thanks Rock, Will, and Ponch for talking to me on vent and keeping me
calm and helping with pit, fuel, tire and general strategy all year.
Couldn't have done it without you guys!"
We would also like to make mention of one driver, David 'Sidewall'
Mundinger, who had an outstanding performance in the Good Hands Rating.
The Good Hands Rating is a ranking system among drivers in their series
that calculates the amount of incidents that driver has occurred compared
to the amount of races scored in that series. In the 2009 Diamond
Truck Series, Sidewall scored a PERFECT 10.0 proving to all how
clean of a driver he really is. Congrats Sidewall on a job very well
done!
The #28 of Gary Griffith will be properly awarded in the 2009 Awards
Ceremony in December. |
