Every year, the FFRL attempts to conduct a
social get together with it's drivers. A chance for
drivers to meet, discuss the future path of the
FFRL, discuss tips and tricks, eat plenty of food,
and share in some activities. Of course, since the
drivers of the FFRL are expanded nationwide and into
Canada, sometimes it's difficult to find an area
where the drivers can get together. So far, we have
been successful five times in accomplishing this.
Location of each "pitstop" generally
takes place in a centralized location where a driver in
that area, hosts the event and the staff of the FFRL
puts it all together. The "Pitstops" done in each
year are noted as the "years" just above this text.
Browsing through them will give you an idea of the FFRL
and how this is just more than racing, it's the
community. In 2010, we have scheduled our next
Pitstop back in Cleveland, Oh on August 7th and 8th.

2003 1ST ANNUAL PITSTOP - TOLEDO, OH |
|
|
|
The
FFRL PITSTOP takes place once a year at the home of
one of the drivers in the FFRL. The Pitstop gives
drivers a chance to meet outside the track as well
as a chance for some great discussions, activities,
and another way to make me work by cooking all your
fantastic grub. It's an opportunity where drivers
can compare notes, go over techniques, or apologize
face to face for running them into the wall =).
On Setember
27th, 2003, the FFRL hosted their very first annual
PITSTOP at the home of one of our drivers, "Ravenloff"
in Toledo, Ohio. Those who participated, were
greeted with their very own T-Shirt personalized with
their car numbers and name. Overlooking the cold
and windy weather, drivers conversed with one another
while chowing down on some marinated chicken, burgers,
hotdogs and loads of snacks and pop. And to burn
off some of those calories, afterwards they proceeded to
the back yard and participated in quite a few volleyball
matches. Before we knew it, 8:00 pm was
approaching and drivers began to depart on their
journeys homeward.
This year,
the FFRL 2nd Annual Pitstop is already being planned.
"Doc" and "PegLeg" has graciously opened their home to
host this event which will take place in August of 2004
in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. We are planning
on an event that will be extremely knowledgeable,
entertaining, and just plan fun toping our first event.
Those who are coming in from out of town, different
state, or other countries, we will attempt to help on
overnight stay. But space is limited so if you are
planning on attending, please contact the administration
as soon as you know.
Currently,
we are still working on a schedule for this event which
will include lunch and dinner time, drivers meeting and
discussion, as well as activities for everyone. If
you have ideas that you think would help benefit this
event, please send your suggestions. All is
invited. August 14th, is our projected date,
however, this may change.
If arriving
by plane, the closest airport is Cleveland Hopkins
Airport which hubs many commercial airlines.
Actual address and other information will be provided
when the event draws nearer. Or contact the
administration at
admin@ffrl.org.
So mark
your calendars and prepare to partake in the 2nd Annual
FFRL Pitstop.
