The R.O.T.Y. or "Rookie of the Year Challenge", is designed to bring another competitive edge to drivers entering the two main Cup Divisions for the first time.  Those drivers, understated as Rookies, not only compete in overall championship points, but on a plane with those meeting the same criteria.  For the entire season, these drivers will challenge each other knowing each position counts.  Not only where they stand in the entire field, but where they stand with each other.  Only one will be crowned "Rookie of the Year" and be acknowledged at the Awards Ceremony in December.

R.O.T.Y. - REQUIREMENTS
To remain eligible for the "Rookie of the Year", the driver must enter the Magnum Cup or Sportsman Cup Series by halfway point to be able to compete in the amount of races required and have raced no more than 7 races in that series the previous year at the FFRL.

Rookie stripes will be noted on the car they drive by a yellow stripe on the rear bumper of the car.

Rookies may only participate in the "Rookie of the Year Challenge" in one series at a time. If a driver is a rookie in both the Magnum and Sportsman Cup Series, the Sportsman Cup takes precedence.

R.O.T.Y. - POINT SYSTEM AND SETUP

1. Only the driver’s best 17 races are counted in head-to-head competition in the Magnum Cup Series and 16 in the Sportsman Cup Series.

2. One point is awarded for each race in which a rookie of the year candidate qualifies and is eligible for championship points. (Not a non-points race) The driver must qualify in order to receive this extra point.

3.
A 10-1 point system in place for the rookies according to where they finish in the race in relation to the other rookies. The highest finishing rookie in each race earns 10 point; the second highest finishing rookie earns 9 points, and so on.

4. Each rookie contender will receive bonus points for a finish in the top 5. If a rookie finishes 5th, he/she will be awarded one point. If a rookie finishes in 1st place, he/she will be awarded 5 extra bonus points.

THE GRID:
A 5th place finish is worth 1 bonus rookie point.
A 4th place finish is worth 2 bonus rookie points.
A 3rd place finish is worth 3 bonus rookie points.
A 2nd place finish is worth 2 bonus rookie points.
A 1st place finish is worth 5 bonus rookie points.

5.
Bonus points are also awarded to each rookie after race number 10, 20, and the final race (36). The candidate with the most Magnum or Sportsman Cup championship points accumulated (overall points) in each segment will receive 10 bonus points; the candidate earning the second highest number of points receives nine, and so on.

6. Penalty points are also given to rookie drivers that cause incidents during season play. Along with the FFRL Incident Points, rookie drivers will have those points deducted from their total. Standard incidents will reflect a -1 point from their day’s total. A standard incident caused on a restart will reflect a -2 point deduction from their total. As long as a rookie driver qualifies for the event, their total cannot be lower than 1 point.

7. Following the final race of the season, the rookie with the most championship points in their series receives an extra 10 points. The second highest rookie receives 9 points, and so on.

8.
There is also a "Rookie of the Year" panel for each of the series. This panel has the right to penalize any rookie for conduct or acts that might discredit or reflect unfavorably upon the FFRL.

9.
During the final weekend of the season in each series, the panel meets to discuss the "Rookie of the Year" candidates and each competitor is evaluated on three criteria:

      A. Awareness and follow through with league enforced policies/rules.
      B. Conduct within the server chat and Ventrilo chat.
      C. Participation in the forum community.

The voting in the three areas will consist of 10-1 point system for each topic. Voting may be distributed by a panel member in any way that he/she chooses. Total points will be averaged from each panel member’s ballot. The points derived from the panel will be added to the entry, competition, and bonus points after the final race of the season to determine the overall Rookie of the Year winner for each division. A total of 30 points maximum per section giving an allowed maximum total of 90 points per driver.

10.
A section on the website at www.ffrl.org will be dedicated to the "Rookie of the Year Challenge".
