On May 24th, 2010, the sixth running of the FFRL All-Star Challenge takes place.  This race is a "non points" race with one winner who is honored at the 2010 Awards Ceremony that takes place at the end of the season.  In 2010, #29 Andrew Mendes will be defending his 2009 title.

The FFRL All-Star Challenge is a race off competition among drivers who have either won the "FFRL OPEN", is an existing CUP Series Champion, or have recorded a win in the Magnum or Sportsman Cup Series in the 2009/2010 Seasons.  Wins in the Diamond Series, IROC, and Extreme Series do not qualify for this event.  However, drivers of those series can qualify to compete in the FFRL OPEN to earn the chance to progress into the FFRL All-Star Challenge.

FFRL OPEN
The distance for the "FFRL Open" consists of 40 laps, 60 miles, run in two segments of 25 laps and 15 laps. As the leader crosses the line on lap 24, a mandatory yellow is thrown. All drivers must pit for a 4 tire change. Drivers failing to service four tires will be issued a black flag. No exceptions. If a yellow flag is currently in progress during lap 24, that yellow will be counted as the mandatory stop. Since this is a non-points race, the "Lucky Dog" will not be enforced. Gentlemen's Rule is enforced.

The winner of the "FFRL Open" moves up to compete in the FFRL All-Star Challenge.

FFRL OPEN - ELIGIBILITY
The winner of the FFRL Open, a preliminary event for drivers not qualified for the FFRL All-Star Challenge become eligible to compete in the All-Star Challenge.

To qualify for the FFRL Open, drivers must be in active status and a current driver in either the Magnum Cup Series, Sportsman Cup Series, Diamond, or Extreme Series.

FFRL ALL-STAR CHALLENGE
The distance for the "FFRL All-Star Challenge" consists of 100 laps, 150 miles, run in three segments of 45 laps, 30 laps, and 25 laps.
First Segment: Drivers must make a mandatory green-flag, four tire pit stop during the first segment. This stop must be made prior to lap 26. Drivers failing to change four tires will be served a black flag. No exceptions. If a yellow is drawn out, this does not count for the mandatory green-flag pit. Drivers on pit road or servicing their required pit, when the caution comes out, will be accepted since they entered prior to the Yellow.
Second Segment: At lap 44 when the leader crosses the line, the HOST will post for all drivers to enter Pit Road. The Yellow Flag will NOT be thrown. Drivers must pit but may elect to change tires, add fuel, make normal chassis adjustments, and repair damage. Drivers are to remain in their pit boxes while the HOST draws for inverting the field from 4. 6. 8, or ALL. An example: If Driver A is currently in 1st position and the HOST draws "6", Driver A will be in 6th position while the driver who was in 6th, now resides in first. The driver who was in 2nd, is now in 5th.  Once decided, the HOST will call drivers out of pit road to line up in order just outside the pit road. The new leader will then lead the field under pace speeds until the HOST calls for GREEN. This segment continues the race for the next 30 laps. No need to pit.
Third Segment: As the leader passes the line for Lap 73, a mandatory Yellow will be thrown which drivers may elect to pit, but not mandatory. Drivers pitting may add fuel, change tires, make chassis adjustments, and repair damage. Drivers are to treat this Yellow with normal yellow conditions. When the field goes Green, it's a race to the checkered flag.
Since this is a non-points race, the "Lucky Dog" will not be enforced. Drivers more than 2 laps down, will be asked to park their car for the duration of the race. The Gentlemen's Rule is enforced.

FFRL ALL-STAR CHALLENGE - FAN FAVORITE
Following the FFRL OPEN race, voting will begin in the forums for the "fan favorite".  This vote can be cast to any driver qualified to participate in the FFRL OPEN.  Due to some qualified drivers may not be able to participate in the OPEN due to conflicting schedules, you do not have to participate in the OPEN to be voted in as a fan favorite.   In 2009, Stubbs was the voted in driver.
